Classic BMW Styling in a Modern Package

The 3 Series sedan comes in three versions: the 330i, the M340i, and the new 330e plug-in hybrid. Rear-wheel drive is standard on all trim levels, but buyers can upgrade to all-wheel drive on any model.

Of the three available options for 2021, the M340i is the most powerful with 473 horsepower and a twin-turbo 3.0-liter I-6 engine. Whatever option you choose, any vehicle in the 3-series drives like a dream and does not sacrifice anything in terms of comfort, style, or technology.

Pricing on the 2021 BMW 3 Series

The 3 series offers a range of trim levels and optional packages to suit a variety of budgets. Starting at about $40,000 for the 330i sedan, this is a very handsome vehicle with a luxurious interior and plenty of high-end features that come standard.

The next price level up is the 330e Plug-In Hybrid, which can range from $45,000 to $62,000 depending on the options you choose. The most powerful (and expensive) pick of the lot is the M340i sedan, which has returned to the BMW lineup for 2021 after a brief hiatus. An M3 can be had for around $52,000 but can sell as high as $76,000 for a top-of-the-line model with an all-wheel drive.

What’s New for 2021

BMW has really invested in its hybrid technology with some impressive updates on its 2021 models. The 330e plug-in hybrid offers up to 22 miles of all-electric range, and the M340i now has a 48-volt hybrid system to complement its powerful engine. This translates into big savings at the gas pump.

Some upgrades have also been added to the infotainment system, which now features Android Auto as a standard feature on all models. Previously upgraded features that now come standard also include hands-free keyless entry and automatic high-beam lighting.

Safety First

As evaluated by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the 3 Series earned the Top Safety Pick designation and scored very high in all IIHS crashworthiness tests.

BMW’s 2021 lineup has numerous impressive safety features that all come standard, such as automatic high beams, forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking, and rain-sensing windshield wipers. Adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and lane-keep assist can be selected as options.

A Spacious Ride

Despite the 3 Series’ sporty exterior, make no mistake that this is a spacious and practical vehicle. With a trunk capacity that measures 17.0 cubic feet, and split-folding second-row seats, there is an above-average amount of cargo space for a vehicle in this class. With ample leg and head room, as well as ergonomic seating, this is a vehicle that would be very comfortable on a long road trip.
