Interior

The standard M3 is accessed using a keyless entry feature. Drivers are welcomed with a comfortable, power-adjustable heated front sports seat with leather upholstery. There is an available carbon-fiber bolstered front seat with heavy padding available for those who prefer a more race-track-inspired look. The large digital instrument display switches to a stylish M View when the sport drive mode is activated.

The M3 comes with a carbon-fiber roof that can be changed to an available sunroof. The backseats have Isofix anchors underneath flip-lids, making it easy to position a rear-facing child’s seat. This daily commuter comes with plenty of trunk space measuring 13 cubic feet. Loading and unloading is made easier by adding the optional power trunk lid.

Driving

Driving the M3 is loads of fun thanks to its six-speed manual transmission, rear-wheel drive, and turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. The standard M3 delivers up to 473 horsepower and 406 lb.-ft of torque. Its performance tires are 18 inches in the front and 19 inches in the rear.

The M3 Competition is equipped with a more powerful engine that comes in with 503 horsepower and 479 lb.-ft of torque. This trim level offers an eight-speed automatic transmission and the option for all-wheel drive, which can be disabled for rear-wheel drive. The tires get a boost to 19 inches in the front and 20 inches in the rear. The M3 Competition offers up plenty of grip as it travels around corners or snow-covered roads.

BMW’s Special Edition

The manufacturer is celebrating its history with the Edition 50 Jahre, a special 2023 model with only 500 available for North America. This car is uniquely available in five different classic paint colors selected from the model’s last five generations. The Lime Rock Park Edition comes from the M3’s fourth generation and joins colors like Interlagos Blue.

Distinct matte gray wheels, quad carbon-fiber tipped tailpipes, and a carbon-fiber front splitter enhance the car’s exterior. Inside, the special edition offers black merino leather with its own special stitching.

Technology

BMW loaded the standard M3 with exceptional infotainment technology. The touchscreen for 2023 is sized up to a 14.9-inch display that includes Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Listening to music or podcasts will be a lot more enjoyable thanks to the 16-speaker Harman Kardon sound system in the M3.
