The new BMW 7 Series offers drivers a choice of two powertrain configurations, starting with a standard turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine that, assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system, delivers 375 horsepower and 383 pounds of torque. While this powertrain is standard in 740i Sedan and 740i xDrive Sedan models, the 760i xDrive Sedan variant comes with a 4.4-liter V8 hybrid unit that pumps a whopping 536 horsepower and 553 pounds of torque.
In terms of fuel economy, the base 740i Sedan model features EPA estimates of 25 miles per gallon in the city and 31 mpg on the highway, while the 740i xDrive Sedan delivers 24 and 31 mpg, respectively. The more powerful 760i xDrive, on the other hand, offers 18 miles per gallon in the city and 25 mpg on the highway.
