The X1 xDrive28i
With a 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder motor under the hood and BMW’s much-lauded xDrive system distributing its power to all four wheels, the xDrive28i trim offers plenty of power and sporty handling that grips the road. Its generous power plant makes 241 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque for an enthusiastic drive. A 7-speed, dual-clutch transmission shifts smoothly and responsively to deliver power on demand.
Despite having plenty of power under the pedal, the xDrive28i maintains excellent fuel economy, offering drivers up to 34 mpg combined, and a 14.3-gallon fuel tank enables a driving range of up to 357 city miles or 486 highway miles per fill-up. Seats and interiors are made of premium materials for an excellent tactile experience, and the 7-speaker sound system will delight audiophiles with excellent sound quality.
The X1 M35i xDrive
The M35i trim is new for 2024 and brings BMW’s lauded M-class performance to the X1, making for an even sportier and more luxurious drive. The turbocharged power plant is the most powerful of BMW’s 4-cylinder modular design portfolio, making 312 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque.
Standard Adaptive M suspension, sport steering, and M Compound brakes offer tight and sporty handling and plenty of stopping power. Available M sport seats make for a cushy ride, M sport pedals add a thrilling experience, and M-specific graphics on the Curved Display and on the available Head-Up Display remind you of the power inherent in the X1 M35i. Outside, two pairs of exhaust pipes and prominent M badges showcase its high-performance nature.
Capability, Practicality, Efficiency, and Safety
Whichever trim of the X1 you choose, you’ll be opting for a vehicle that is as practical as it is performance-oriented. Interiors are roomy and comfortable, yet the outside of the X1 is compact, coming in at only a hair over 177 inches and making finding compatible parking a breeze. Both rows of seating are roomy, and the X1 offers 25.7 cubic feet of cargo capability, making it as capable as it is fun to drive.
The 2024 X1 also offers excellent driver-assist and crash protection features, with the model’s crash test performance and standard safety suite earning it a coveted Top Safety Pick designation from the IIHS.
