Engine and Efficiency
The 2022 7 Series offers multiple powerful engines, including a plug-in-hybrid powertrain. Let’s take a look:
- 740i- Turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six (335 horsepower and 331 pound-feet of torque)
- 745e- Turbocharged 3.0-liter inline-six engine and an electric motor (389 horsepower and 443 pound-feet of torque)
- 750i- Twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine (523 horsepower and 590 pound-feet of torque)
- Alpina B7- Twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8 engine (600 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque)
- M760i- Twin-turbo 6.6-liter V12 engine (600 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque)
The six-cylinder 740i and the 750i have the best fuel economy, managing 30 mpg. The 745e plug-in hybrid model provides up to 17 miles of electric-only driving and can be recharged in the trunk within ten hours. The thirsty M760i gets 20 mpg in the city and 13 mpg on the highway. All 7 Series models feature a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission.
Infotainment and Connectivity
BMW’s 7th series is fitted with iDrive 7.0, which can be accessed on a touchscreen or via the controls on the center console. BMW has also added a fun gimmick that allows you to input certain commands with hand gestures. Every model is Bluetooth-capable, and you can give your back seat passengers more control with the available Samsung tablet in the rear. Each car is compatible with Apple CarPlay, but not Android Auto.
Driver Assistance
