The 2023 440i comes in a coupe design and a convertible. The engine is a 3.0L Turbo Inline-6 that gives you 382 horsepower at 5800 rpm, with nearly 370 lb-ft of torque at 1800 rpm. It has a rear-wheel drive train and an 8-speed automatic transmission with the option to switch to manual in the sport trim. The rear wheels are larger than the front, supporting the intimidating, front-facing design of the BMW 4 Series.
The fuel tank capacity is 15.6 gallons, getting you 374 miles in the city and 499 miles on the highway. It averages out to around 24 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway, with the combined mpg at 27. The coupe seats four and still has 12 cubic feet of trunk space, giving you plenty of room for personal items on long drives or spontaneous shopping trips.
New Features and Technology
New for 2023 are the M Sport brakes with red or blue calipers, a lower roofline that is the new face of the 4 Series, and the removal of gesture controls for the infotainment system. The M Sport brakes are part of the optional Shadowline appearance package and are not standard on the base trims.
The 2023 440i comes with a standard 8.8-inch infotainment screen, which you can upgrade to a 10.3-inch. The infotainment systems are touchscreens while also utilizing a console-mounted click wheel. Apple CarPlay and Andriod Auto come standard, as does in-dash navigation assistance. If you still want more, a 12.3-inch digital gauge display, Wi-Fi, and wireless smartphone charging are optional additions.
