Three Great Sushi Places Just Down the Road in Jacksonville, FL Open Sushi We have to start with Open Sushi, widely considered the best place in town. They offer dine-in, takeout, and delivery, and you'll find them at 9930 Old Baymeadows Rd. This place is relaxed, has great service, and delivers sushi at decent prices while never compromising on taste. In addition to sushi, they have other authentic Japanese cuisine to offer, so don't hesitate to show up even if you aren't sure everyone in your party wants raw seafood! For those in your party who don't love sushi, try the shrimp dumplings, the deep-fried tofu, and the delicious chicken tempura. For those of you here for the sushi, try the unazu, the tuna sashimi, the yellowtail jalapeno, and the incredible Tiger Eyes, which is seared squid stuffed with crab and salmon. If you want something a little different, try the spicy sashimi salad. more Sushiya Sushiya is down on the edge of town, technically in Fleming Island at 1615 County Road 220. Your BMW 530i can get you there in less than half an hour, and in luxurious comfort. And it's worth the drive: this hidden gem has some amazing stuff. You also can't beat the prices, and you won't have a thing here that doesn't taste fresh from the sea. We really like their surf clam sashimi, the eel sushi, and the tuna. They do a crazy-good Crazy Roll, with shrimp tempura roll topped with smoked salmon. Their Jax Roll is also really good: it's shrimp tempura topped with spicy tuna. Don't forget to try one of their chef's special rolls. They're all good, but the Dragon Roll and the Tataki Roll are particularly excellent. Crazy Sushi If you find yourself on the east side of town, Crazy Sushi is an awesome spot located in the Publix at Deerwood Lake Commons. Anyone who loves sushi in Jacksonville has to check out this spot. It's a small, quiet place, and that's because they're pouring incredible energy into delivering great sushi perfectly prepared. Order your nigiri with tuna, mackerel, shrimp, scallops, octopus, baby octopus (yes, they're different), conch, surf clams, flying fish roe, and a whole lot of other options. They also have a huge array of cooked and raw rolls, sushi rolls, deep-fried rolls, and vegetable rolls. Try their tempura cheesecake for dessert if you have some room left over. There's nothing better than sushi when it's done well. When you have a craving for sushi, no other cuisine will do, either.
